At CAM, Joe has had the opportunity to influence safety in the construction industry in inestimable ways. Joe hosts a monthly Safety Committee where CAM members are encouraged to participate and share their safety knowledge and expertise. He was instrumental in moving the offices of the Safety Council for Southeast Michigan into the CAMDetroit. Joe also is a member of the Oakland University Safety and Health Industry Advisory Committee and sits on the safety committee for the Management and Union Serving Together (MUST) program. He has also been an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. His articles on safety management are published monthly in the CAM magazine which is circulated among CAM’s nearly 3200 members. building, further fostering positive safety alliances toward the improvement of safety in the construction trades. As the past President of the Greater Detroit Chapter of ASSE, Joe is working with the National ASSE to bring their annual Professional Development Conference (PDC) and a Construction Mini-Symposium to Detroit.
He is a retired suburban Detroit police officer and fire fighter. He is married and has five children and one grandson.

Joe Galusha, CHSP, CIE

As a Risk Management Consultant, Joe specializes in the development and implementation of holistic risk management programs with a strong focus on injury prevention, workers compensation cost containment and liability management.
Joe has been a speaker at the Michigan Safety Conference and at the National Safety Conference. He has had a number of roles within the Michigan Safety Conference including: Healthcare Division Vice Chair and Chair, Board Member , CEU Committee Chair, Officer and President (2009). In the years as an officer, Joe worked to create change and modernize the organization, such as pushing for increased use of the website for registration, creating efficiencies in processes, (such as the currently used Speaker/CEU form which eliminated duplicate submission for CEU credits), and improving the quality of the conference by dramatically increasing the number CEU qualifying sessions and finally as President working to increase the visibility of volunteers through the “Year of the Volunteer” theme of the 2009 Conference.
Joe is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fly fishing, hunting, golf, water sports and trail riding preferably with the company of his wife Rhonda and 3 children, ages 17, 14 and 8 years.
